  • Email [email protected] and send them a selfie photo of:

    • your face and holding up your ID (your name on the ID should be as clear as possible)

    • The body of the email should say something like (feel free to copy-paste this): "Someone hacked my account and is impersonating me. They changed all of my contact info and security settings. I created the account using the email: [enter your previous account email] and phone number [enter your phone number]. Please see the attached photo to verify my identity. I'll do anything to get my account back!"

  • Report the Hack by Submitting a Technical Issue Form

    • Since you currently can't login to your hacked account, you must follow these steps from a different Instagram account. Be it your 2nd Instagram account or someone else's account.

      1. Tap your profile picture in the bottom right to go to your profile.

      2. Tap the 3 horizontal lines in the top right, then tap Settings.

      3. Tap Help, then tap Report a Problem.

      4. Follow the on-screen instructions.

You can be as descriptive as you can be when filling this report.

      • You may attach screenshots (preferably another selfie of your face while holding your ID).

      • Include the link (copy-paste while viewing it) to the hacked account.

      • Confirm your original email address and phone number on the account.

      • Include any other context or pleas so they will have a sense of urgency.

  • If you have a Business Page (on Facebook), run an Ad Campaign to gain live human support.

    • If you happen to have a business or branded account, this may open a possibility to contact a real-time human agent with Meta/Facebook. Technically it's through Facebook's Ad Campaign Support, but if the Agent is in a good mood, they may want to exceed your expectations and help you.

If so, you can run an Ad (even for $2 / day), you would have access to "Ad Campaign support." These are real live agents, yes humans, and could still help you with recovering your IG account. Once you run the Ad (and payment is processed), you should see the option for Live Agent support within 24-48 hours.

    • If you've already created an ad account, the option to contact support only appears once your payment method has already been charged. If this is the case, you will want to go to https://www.facebook.com/business/help. Scroll down and locate the β€˜Still Need Help?’ section where it says β€˜Contact our support team’ and click either the Chat or Email button.

We've seen other users have success using this strategy. Give it a shot and if you need any additional assistance, you can always contact our Experts directly via the Support Chat in the Cyrus App.
